A rather amazing video.
You need to watch it through to the end.
I never think of octopus as being this small - but then, if you think about Calamari ...

My sister alerted me to this - I don't think it's a hoax...
If you don't know, as of today, Facebook will automatically start plunging the Earth into the Sun. To change this option, go to Settings --> Planetary Settings --> Trajectory then UN-CLICK the box that says 'Apocalypse.' Facebook kept this one quiet. Copy and paste onto your status for all to ...see.

Somedays, my facebook flist is pretty funny

Someone on my facebook wrote that she had made home-made salt scrub, so I asked her for the recipe. This made a lot of sense after I saw the mix of salts that she used. I would have thought that there was some other non-scented oil as well. The commercial scrubs I get usually have some level of separation of salt and oil and there is a lot more than 8 drops of oil there.
I made a big canister of it for her a couple of Christmases ago, and she told me today that she's out. I put 2 cups of epsom salt, 1 cup of kosher salt (or dead sea salt, or sea salt, whatever I have), and 1 cup of baking soda, then add 8 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix it all up with my hands in a ceramic or glass bowl. It is a really nice but inexpensive gift to give. :)"

Why is the national news media wasting time on Tiger Wood's alleged affair(s)?
Isn't there more news worthy stories?
Like 30,000 more troops in Afghanistan?

I'm a bit behind on reading my flist, so forgive me if I am stating the obvious.
But new photos for POP! on Facebook have been posted and Randy Harrison is looking good as Andy Warhol.

I must admit, that so much of my personal memories of Andy Warhol was of the late 70s early 80s Studio 54 Andy Warhol, older and with frizzed hair - looking like it had gotten too many bad bleach jobs.
In fact, I love that it is a younger Andy Warhol, allowing Randy to play the character without heavy makeup that ages him.
Perhaps I'm wrong - perhaps Andy ages through the play.
It looks interesting - too bad the run will not be showing in January when I am in New Haven.

Mom didn't get up very early, so I got up and put together two easy pies from yesterday's trip to the grocery store.
I can't decide if Cool Whip is evil incarnate or the greatest invention since the toaster oven. Whichever, give it a graham cracker crust, some cream cheese or pudding and a couple of accessories like strawberries or crushed cookies, and voila! pie. Butterscotch Crunch Pie and Strawberry Cheesecake Pie.
I prodded mom out of bed and tried to get her to take her meds, to no avail. Her massage therapist arrived and she got her massage - which was a total success.
Then... I got a massage - it was so good.
Then I looked at job openings... and fell asleep.
3 hours later...
I tried to get mom up for dinner. She made it to the table, and she did drink probably 1.5 cups of smoothy while trying to take her pills - which once again were a dismal failure. It's nights like this I'm glad that there are children's liquid mucinex and children's mucinex mini-melts.
Got mom to bed, and went back to the kitchen.
I had gotten some ground beef on the idea that I might try my hand at making Jamaican Beef Patties.
Well, I figured I could concoct a reasonable facsimile. Ground Beef onion peas and carrots Taste of Thai Yellow Curry Paste
Well, the piecrust dough didn't seem to be doing the thing. So I ended up making a pie instead. Plenty of filling, but it ended up tasting more like a Samosa Pie.
Oh well.
Time for bed.
I fell in the bathroom, whacking the knee that I fell on three weeks ago.
But that was after I had a massage - so I was in good shape.

So I have to say that I'm amused with the new windows 7 ads.
They feature someone claiming that they had an idea, and how they told Microsoft and Microsoft created Windows 7 from their idea.
Now, I am a MAC person, but I'm live and let live.
But, the thing that just kills me is that they use these nebbish thirty/forty something guys to tell the tale, but when they flash back to the point where they "had the idea" there's a rather hunky version of the now pudgy idea guy.
Okay, it isn't a huge amount of air time, but I really had to laugh. Yup, he's a PC (but the idea guy is a Mac).

At a recent Meet & Greet (dog event) our donation bucket received a bunch of spare change, in which there were four wheat pennies.
For those of you unfamiliar with wheat pennies, they look like this:

They were minted between 1909 and 1958.
It is rare to see a wheat penny these days, let alone 4 of them together.
I see this as a sign that the economy is in bad shape that people are delving into their stash of saved coins to pay for things. Even though it isn't much, the wheat pennies are generally worth twice their face value.
According to wikipedia: "As of 2007, most wheat cents are currently held in private collections and by dealers, often in bulk quantity. However, since the vast majority of wheat cents are only worth ten cents or less, an occasional wheat is still sometimes found in circulation, with a ratio of approximately 1 to 390 cents. An occasional 1943 steel cent is sometimes found in the reject area of a coin counting machine as well."

I really wish that Donald Bellisario was the producer on NCIS LA I find the show is not as well written (in the first three episodes, the amount of dialog stating the obvious was awful).
Also, I don't understand the structure of the office. I adore the casting of Linda Hunt but I don't really understand her role. Since "the director" from regular NCIS seems to be directing things. So is she the local director?
If so, then who is the counter part to Mark Harmon's character? LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell seem to be in parallel positions - neither is "boss".
When the ensemble gets together, no one seems to be running things - and Linda Hunt is not really in the discussion of the missions.
I like the casting of the computer geek whiz and the young "new" member of the team. Unfortunately, because there seems to be no structure.
I think the lack of forensics and lack of investigation of the scene of the crime let's me down. It's entertaining, but I think a smaller team and more structure would make viewing it more enjoyable.
ETA: I guess it isn't just me: http://www.tvsquad.com/2009/10/12/things-i-dont-get-about-ncis-los-angeles/
